Dustin Johnson Wins 2012 PGA St. Jude Classic
Dustin Johnson is playing well at just the right time as we have the US Open approaching this week. After dealing with a back injury for the last several months, Johnson put together a solid 4 rounds for the tournament win.
Johnson shot a 4-under 66 for his final round to hold off John Merrick by 1 stroke. It was a nice little payday for any bettors that wagered on Johnson, who paid off at 18/1. It was a tight and well played tournament as 11 players were all within 4 shots of Johnson. This was his 6th PGA Tour title and his first win since the Barclays last year.
Rory McIlroy played much better this week, which should make him one of the favorites in this year’s US Open. Had it not been for a 72 on Saturday, McIlroy would have been in the thick of things at the end of the tournament. I think the victory for him was a good performance as he prepares to defend his Open title this week.
