Don’t Forget NFL Halftime Betting

Halftime betting is many times forgotten or at least not utilized as much as it should be when betting NFL football.  College too for that matter as it is a great way to hedge your original bet made on the game.  Or, some people just like to get a feel for the way teams are playing and come in for the second half with more information behind their bet.

Let’s use an example to illustrate.  The Eagles are playing the Bears with Philadelphia favored by 7 with the total set at 39.  At the half the score turns out 17-0 in the Eagles favor.  The lines to open the second half are PK with the total set at 17.  There are several options here based on how you originally bet the game.  You could bet on the Bears in the second half and if Chicago outscores Philadelphia by less than 10 you clean up by winning both bets.  If Chicago outscores the Eagles by more than 10 you win the halftime while losing the overall game bet.  If Philadelphia beats scores more than Chicago in the second half, you still win your original bet and lose the half.

You could bet the over for the 2nd half total.  Here if the Eagles can score just 3 points then you can’t lose both bets.  With a lead like the Eagles have you might play the under.  That is if you feel Philly might play it safe and try to protect their lead.  Or you can simply be satisfied figuring you are going to win your original bet.

These are some different scenarios for hedging your bets, but remember that you have a lot of information going into the second half.  Some sharp bettors make a living mostly making these second half bets.  This is definitely something to think about for limiting you losses in certain situations and doubling your profits in others.  Good luck and have a great season betting NFL football.  America’s Bookie has all your halftime lines and odds listed promptly for your betting convenience.
