Denver Nuggets (18-15) vs. Los Angeles Clippers (19-11) Preview and Prediction

February 22, 2012 by Jako

The Nuggets head to Los Angeles tonight to face the Clippers who are trying to bounce back from two tough losses in a row.  America's Bookie has Los Angeles as an 8 point favorite at home.  The total for this game is set at 205 ½.

Denver is struggling a bit these days and has a 4-7 record during the month of February.  They are pretty banged up and relying on backups to get the job done.  Arron Afflalo hit the game winning shot in overtime on Monday to give the Nuggets a 103-101 win over Minnesota.  Reserve Al Harrington led Denver with 31 points on the night.  The Nuggets played without Danilo Gallinari, Nene and Rudy Fernandez.  Ty Lawson sprained his left ankle in the second quarter and is day to day.

The Clippers are coming off of a couple of tough losses, the most recent 97-104 to Golden State on Monday night.  Chris Paul led with 25 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds.  Mo Williams added 22 points.  LA had a poor night shooting with 42% and committed 18 turnovers.  Ekpe Udoh was very tough for the Warriors as he scored a career high 19 points and got 8 rebounds.  Defensively, he was all over Blake Griffin and kept center DeAndre Jordon to just 5 points and 11 rebounds.

The Clippers are looking to avoid their first 3 game losing streak since Chris Paul joined the team.  They should have a good shot at getting back on track tonight against this hobbled Denver team.  Look for the Clippers to be focused and play a better game tonight.  They should have won against the Warriors but just had a mental letdown in the game.  This is their last game before the all star break and I’m sure they want to finish the halfway mark on a winning note.  Denver is 23-7 ATS in their last 30 road games but is pretty beat up tonight.  The Clippers are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 home games.  Los Angeles is going to give a beating to Denver tonight, count on it.  Take the Clippers and lay the 8 points.
