Three NFL Teams With Great Odds to Win the 2013-2014 Super Bowl
By Knup There are many things to consider before you place a futures bet on the NFL Super Bowl, and one of them is how crazy the NFL season really can be. Injuries seem to pop up all over the place, and many times it comes down to watching a team just get hot at the right time. Take the Baltimore Ravens for example from last season. Almost no one really expected the Ravens to be serious contenders at about the halfway mark of the season, but they turned it around, got hot, and went on to win the 2013 Super Bowl. Now, the new ... -

What Quarterback Controversy? Notre Dame Has Their Starter
By Knup I talked recently about the quarterback controversy and battle that was going to be held by the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. The Irish lost Everett Golson as they decided to dismiss him from the team and the school, something that was talked about more than just a little bit in the sports news recently. While Golson is out, it means that the Fighting Irish need to find an answer at the quarterback position. What did this mean exact... -

2013 NBA Finals: The Old School versus the New
By AK We are down to only a few more nights before one team is hailed a dethroner or one team becomes a defender. As we get closer to the season’s magnum opus, let’s take a step back and put the two contending teams face-to-face for a little nitpicking. The athletic versus the fundamental play While the defending champs Miami Heat aren’t exactly the youngest team in the league, their style of play fits a team with fresher legs and younger knees. With high flyers like reigning MVP LeBron James and the former 2006 Finals MVP Dwyane Wade, plus Ray Allen’s impec... -

2013 PGA US Open Predictions
By Scott The 2013 U.S. Open will be hosted at the Merion Golf Club for the first time since 1981. The par 70 (6996 Yards) course is the shortest course for a PGA major since 2004. There has been a lot of rain this week on the course and the course will be soft, which will make it easier on the golfers. Playing at Merion should be interesting because only 11 players have played competitive rounds on the course. Most players will have never played a competitive round at Merion in the past. This week putting is going to be the biggest factor, but I also think that scrambling will play a ro...Golf Recent Forum Posts

Arizona’s Sean Miller Lands Contract Extension
By Knup A 27-8 record last season was no joke, and neither was the fact that the Arizona Wildcats were a strong team, and a serious major contender as well. The Wildcats had talent across their roster last season, they ended the year ranked 21st in the nation, and they obviously made it to the NCAA Tournament. They had a tough loss to the 7th ranked Ohio State Buckeyes in the thir... -

2013 Stanley Cup Final Game 3 Betting Trends
By Edward23 Chicago Blackhawks vs. Boston Bruins After putting in more than the traditional 60 minutes in each of the first two contests of the Stanley Cup Final, the Bruins will look to seize an edge in the series, when they return home for Game 3 against the Blackhawks. Boston rebounded after suffering a hard-luck 4-3 loss in triple-overtime in Game 1 as Daniel Paille netted the winner in the extra session for a 2-1 triumph on Saturday. Tuukka Rask weathered a furious first-period storm and finished with 33 saves in the victory. According to the oddsmakers atNHL Recent Forum Posts
Dan’s Pick on Week 2
Dallas (1-0) at Seattle (0-1)
Kickoff: 4:05 p.m. at CenturyLink Field.
Early line: Cowboys by 3.
Notable: Cowboys have won past three regular season meetings and four of five. Most recent time the teams played in Seattle was 2006 NFC wild-card playoff game won by Seahawks, 21-20. Cowboys had chance to win but QB Tony Romo dropped snap on potential winning 19-yard field goal with 1:19 left. … Second straight season Cowboys starting season with road games on each coast, following Week 1, 24-17 win at Giants. … Seahawks 8-2 in home openers since moving into CenturyLink Field, including victories in past three. … QB Russell Wilson completed 18 of 34 passes for 153 yards and touchdown in first NFL start last week against Cardinals. … Seahawks flagged for 13 penalties in Week 1, tied with Cowboys for most in league.
Dan's pick: Cowboys are feeling great about themselves after upset victory over Giants in Week 1. It is exactly why they lose in what amounts to a reverse trap game. Seahawks, 20-17.
N.Y. Jets (1-0) at Pittsburgh (0-1)
Kickoff: 4:25 p.m. at Heinz Field.
Early line: Steelers by 6.
Notable: Jets have won in Pittsburgh once in franchise history, 22-17, on Dec. 19, 2010. Steelers won rematch in AFC Championship Game just over a month later to reach Super Bowl for eighth time … Five of past six meetings have been decided by six points or less. … Steelers haven't started 0-2 since 2002 … Jets have held opposing quarterbacks to 68.6 rating since Rex Ryan took over as coach, best in NFL over that period. … Steelers 7-0 at home in September since coach Mike Tomlin took over in 2007. … Pittsburgh gave up just 10 ppg at home in 2011, lowest total in NFL. … Steelers had 28 of their 35 sacks last season at Heinz Field … QB Ben Roethlisberger has never lost home opener in career.

Detroit (1-0) at San Francisco (1-0)
Kickoff: 8:20 p.m. at Candlestick Park.
Early line: 49ers by 6½.

Smith had 125.6 QB rating last week. Niners 11-0 in games when he has rating over 100.0. … 49ers three-time Pro Bowl RB Frank Gore had 100-yard game at Green Bay last week after getting a franchise-best five straight during one stretch in 2011. … Detroit's Matthew Stafford, No. 1 pick from the 2009 draft, threw three interceptions before halftime for first time last week. Still wound up with 355 yards passing.
Dan's pick: Expectations this season might be too high for Lions, and they travel to West Coast to face a quality team. Jim Harbaugh enjoys last laugh and thoroughly enjoys postgame handshake/backslap. 49ers, 27-17.
Tampa Bay (1-0) at N.Y. Giants (0-1)
Kickoff: 1 p.m. at MetLife Stadium.
Early line: Giants by 8½.
Notable: Bucs coach Greg Schiano returns to New Jersey, where he coached Rutgers for 11 seasons. … Rookie RB Doug Martin rushed for 95 yards in NFL debut. … WR Vincent Jackson has averaged 17.88 yards per catch since 2008, tops in NFL with minimum of 200 receptions. … Defense tied team record allowing 10 yards rushing last week. New Orleans (0-1) at Carolina (0-1)
Kickoff: 1 p.m. at Bank of America Stadium.
Early line: Saints by 2½.
Notable: Saints QB Drew Brees has won past five starts vs. Carolina. … WR Marques Colston had seven catches for 145 yards and two TDs in last meeting with Carolina. … Saints RB/PR/KR Darren Sproles had 256 all-purpose yards in two games last year vs. Carolina. … Panthers QB Cam Newton has 16 TDs (10 passing, six rushing) in seven career games vs. the NFC South. … RB DeAngelo Williams has rushed for 581 yards (116.2 per game) and four TDs in past five meetings with the Saints. … Panthers tied dubious team record for fewest yards rushing in game last week against Tampa Bay with 10.
Dan's pick: Saints swept the series last year largely because they contained quarterback Cam Newton. It is not going to happen this time. Panthers rebound from loss at Tampa Bay. Panthers, 27-20.
Arizona (1-0) at New England (1-0)
Kickoff: 1 p.m. at Gillette Stadium.
Early line: Patriots by 13½.
Notable: Teams meet for third time in 12 years. Patriots have won past five matchups after losing six of first seven. … Cardinals have won eight of past 10 games. Patriots have won 11 of 12 with only loss in Super Bowl to New York Giants. … QB Kevin Kolb starting for Cardinals after John Skelton, who beat him out in training camp, sprained right ankle in opener. Kolb went 6-for-8 for 66 yards and winning TD pass vs. Seattle. … Patriots 15-2 in past 17 home openers, including 10-0 since Gillette Stadium opened in 2002. … A win would give Bill Belichick 194 in his career, moving into eighth place ahead of Chuck Knox for victories by a coach in NFL history. … Second-year RB Stevan Ridley rushed for career-high 125 yards in opener.
Dan's pick: This would be a mismatch in a parking lot in Kansas. Only Tom Brady's boredom could make it close. Patriots, 35-10.
Minnesota (1-0) at Indianapolis (0-1)
Kickoff: 1 p.m. at Lucas Oil Stadium.
Early line: Pick.
Notable: Colts 9-0 in home games vs. Minnesota but have never faced Vikings at Lucas Oil Stadium. … Game marks home debut for three key Colts — QB Andrew Luck, coach Chuck Pagano and GM Ryan Grigson. … Indy gave up three sacks to Bears last week and now face team that shared league lead in sacks (50) in 2011 — possibly without LG Joe Reitz (knee) and RT Winston Justice (concussion). … Vikings RB Adrian Peterson ran 29 times for 160 yards in only previous meeting against Colts. … Vikings DT Kevin Williams and CB Antoine Winfield have each scored four defensive TDs and share franchise record with six other players.
Dan's pick: No reason Andrew Luck can't have a big day in his home debut. Book Luck for two touchdown passes to Reggie Wayne. Colts, 24-17.
Baltimore (1-0) at Philadelphia (1-0)
Kickoff: 1 p.m. at Lincoln Financial Field.
Early line: Eagles by 2½.
Notable: Game is second of four in 18 days for Ravens. … RB Ray Rice had just 13 touches, but two TDs in 44-13 win over Bengals. … S Ed Reed is NFL's leader in interception return yards with 1,497. … Eagles RG Evan Mathis visited Baltimore before re-signing with Philadelphia in free agency. … Eagles beat Ravens, 15-10, in 2004 in only other meeting in Philadelphia. … Eagles 8-3-1 vs. AFC North under Andy Reid.
Dan's pick: Ravens are not as good as they showed in Week 1 (home rout of Bengals); Eagles are not as bad (close victory at Cleveland). Quarterback Michael Vick is going to play well, but Philadelphia's pass rush determines outcome. Eagles, 20-13.
Kansas City (0-1) at Buffalo (0-1)

Early line: Bills by 3.
Notable: Bills have won three of past four meetings, and seven of past eight at home. … Chiefs LB Tamba Hali makes season debut after serving NFL-imposed one-game suspension for violating league's substance-abuse policy. … KC defense banged up with S Kendrick Lewis (right shoulder), CB Brandon Flowers (right heel) and DT Anthony Toribio (right ankle) nursing injuries. … Bills have injury troubles after WR David Nelson (right knee) and RB Fred Jackson (right knee) were hurt last weekend. Nelson out for season; Jackson expected to miss month. … RB C.J. Spiller had career-best 169 yards rushing and TD in replacing Jackson last weekend. … Bills 1-9 since opening last season 5-2.
Dan's pick: Bills are coming off road thumping by Jets. They impose their will in home opener behind a defense that makes Kansas City quarterback Matt Cassel's life miserable. Bills, 31-10.

Notable: Texans have won three straight in series. … Past four meetings in Jacksonville have been decided by touchdown or less. … Matchup features NFL's last two rushing champs: Houston's Arian Foster had 1,616 yards in 2010, Jacksonville's Maurice Jones-Drew had 1,606 in 2011. … Foster has averaged 103 yards in four starts against Jaguars, scoring five touchdowns. … Jones-Drew expected to start after opening season as backup to Rashad Jennings. … Jaguars could be without two offensive and two defensive starters. LG Eben Britton and RT Cam Bradfield have ankle injuries. CB Derek Cox (hamstring) and LB Daryl Smith (groin) missed opener and could be sidelined again.
Dan's pick: Texans should be able to win with minimal difficulty. Somehow, some way, Jacksonville keeps it close — but superior talent prevails. Texans, 30-24.
