Chelsea vs. Manchester United Preview

Manchester United travels to Stamford Bridge this Sunday at 12:00 PM ET in search of a win that could prove to be a real speed bump on Chelsea's road to a Premier League title. According to the oddsmakers at America's Bookie, Chelsea is at +125, Manchester United is at +185 and a draw is at +215. The total for this game is set at 2½.

Chelsea have proven to be real contenders for the title. Many argued that the two Manchester teams would be the ones fighting it out but Chelsea seems intent on crashing that party.

If Chelsea wins this game they will increase their lead over Manchester United to seven points but if the Red Devils hand Chelsea their first loss of the season they will cut their lead to a slim one point.

Oscar and Haszard appear to be great signings for Chelsea and Torres is still not scoring too frequently but he appears to be relishing the team being set up to service him. The Manchester United defense has to be quite exceptional and hugely improved from their past few games – the first fifteen/twenty minutes especially – to give them a chance to win this game.

Manchester United may have a slight edge over Chelsea due to the fact that the Red Devils rested players midweek whilst Chelsea travelled to Donetsk with an almost full strength squad and lost 2-1. Manchester United on the other hand rallied from a 2-0 deficit to beat Braga, 3-2 at Old Trafford.

John Terry is suspended for this game and Frank Lampard is out through injury, which leaves Chelsea without some leadership and authority.

The over 2½ (-130) looks like a very logical play, especially considering that Manchester United's games have averaged 4.1 goals per game this season while Chelsea's games are averaging 3.1 heading into this game.

In their two Premier League meetings last season, Manchester United won 3-1 at Old Trafford (September 18) while the two teams played to a 3-3 at Stamford Bridge (February 5).
