Changes in Odds to win Super Bowl XLVII after NFL week 1
The 2012 NFL season is finally underway and we are seeing a lot of changes in the odds to win Super Bowl XLVII after the first game. In some I can see the logic and in others it must have something to do with the money being spread around on these futures bets. We will discuss a few now and be sure and check back from time to time as we will keep you up to date on future changes. You can keep up with all your NFL game day info at Scores and Odds.
Right off the top of the list I am a little puzzled. Now don’t get me wrong, I don’t think Arizona is going to win the Super Bowl but not quite sure the odds got drastically longer after a decent win over Seattle yesterday. I wouldn’t necessarily expect them to improve but not to get longer either.
There were quite a few improvements down the line also with two of the more interesting being the Bears and the Cowboys. The Bears went from 2500 to 1250 after their 41-21 win over the Colts. I think more than the quality of the team they beat it has more to do with the confident play of Jay Cutler. Along with Matt Forte they showed they might just be more than defense this year. The Cowboys also improved from 1500 to 1150 on the strength of their opening season win over their AFC rival Giants. Tony Romo showed toughness in the game and could lead this team to improvement if he continues to play as he did.
The big move of the week went to the San Francisco 49ers after going into Lambeau Field and beating the Packers 30-22. Their odds went from 1500 to 500. With their offensive effort they really look like the class of the NFC so you better bet these guys pretty soon before the odds get even shorter.
The Washington Redskins showed a pretty large move after Robert Griffin III’s inaugural game. RG3 led the Redskins to a stunning 40-32 win over the Saints. They moved from 8500 to 3500 and are definitely going to be a team to contend with in the future. As of this writing we still have two Monday Night Football games to complete before week 1 is in the books, so there will probably be some more moves after these games. You’ve seen preseason and now with this first regular season week out of the way, you have plenty more information to help you in choosing some juicy futures bet.
