Bulls give Thibodeau four-year extension
General manager Gar Forman made the announcement Monday at the team's media
day before the start of training camp.
Thibodeau is entering his third season as Bulls head coach and has a record of
112-36 in two years with a pair of Central Division titles.
"I'm biased, but I think he's the best coach in the NBA," said Forman on
Monday.
The Bulls were 62-20 in Thibodeau's first season and reached the Eastern
Conference finals before bowing out to Miami. After a 50-16 mark in last
year's lockout-shortened season, superstar guard Derrick Rose went down in the
playoff opener against Philadelphia with an ACL injury and the Bulls lost to
the 76ers in six games.
Rose is expected to miss most of the upcoming 2012-13 campaign after
undergoing surgery for the torn ACL in his left knee in May.
Thibodeau was an assistant for seven teams over 18 seasons before joining the
Bulls.
