Atletico Mineiro nips Vasco to extend lead
Atletico Mineiro entered the match with a one-point cushion over Vasco at the
top of the standings, and won for the ninth time during a 10-game unbeaten run
to extend its lead to four points with a match in hand.
Vasco lost for the first time on the road this season in eight matches, as it
had its nine-game unbeaten run overall snapped and wasted a chance to grab the
top spot in the table.
Atletico Mineiro maintained its undefeated home record with its seventh win in
eight matches at the Mineirao this season.
Paulinho and Romarinho scored in the second half as Corinthians beat Coritiba,
2-1, to run its unbeaten streak to seven Sunday, when Jackson and Mike notched
goals as Internacional extended its undefeated span to six with a 2-1 win over
Ponte Preta.
Also Sunday, Andre Lima scored in the 90th minute and Gremio downed Sao Paulo,
2-1, Fluminense moved into second place after a 1-0 triumph over Palmeiras as
Jean scored the lone goal five minutes from time, while Portuguesa saw its
unbeaten streak reach six games after a 1-1 draw at home against Botafogo.
On Saturday, Aloisio scored as Figueirense edged Sport Recife, 1-0, to end its
seven-match losing streak and 14-match winless skid. Sport lost for the fourth
time during a seven-game winless run.
Walter Montillo scored early as Cruzeiro ended a two-match skid with a 1-0 win
at Bahia, which is winless in four. Vagner Love scored twice as Flamengo beat
Nautico, 2-0, and Patricio Rodriguez and Ezequiel Miralles scored after half
as Santos rallied for a 2-2 draw against Goianiense.
