2012 Player’s Championship Results – Matt Kuchar Wins

Matt Kuchar put himself in a good position going into the final day of the tournament and only needed a solid 2 under par 70 to win the 2012 Player’s Championship.  It was a great payoff for anyone who bet Kuchar to win, as he was 55/1 going into the tournament.  Those were pretty high odds for a player who has been playing well all season.

Four golfers were bunched in a tie for 2nd place.  Ricky Fowler followed up his Wells Fargo Championship win with a very solid performance this week.  His recent performances have to have bumped him up to being one of the favorites in the US Open.

It had to have been a bit of a disappointment to Kevin Na, finishing tied for 7th, after a 4 over par 76 on the final day.  He shot in the 60’s on the 3 previous rounds.  A decent Sunday could have put him in the thick of things.

It was another lackluster performance for Tiger Woods, who finished tied for 40th.  He was only able to shoot one subpar round.  People are going to have to accept the fact that Tiger might not make it back to his previous winning ways.  Maybe it is time to stop dwelling on the past and focus on some of the new young golfers that are on the rise.
