2012 NASCAR Lenox Industrial Tools 301 Results – Kasey Kahne Wins

Kasey Kahne got his second win of the season Sunday afternoon, which goes a long way towards Kahne ending up in the Chase for the Championship.  Winning the Lenox Industrial Tools 301 puts him in the second wildcard position with 7 races to go until the Chase begins.

He beat out Denny Hamlin who led for 150 laps of the race and probably had a better car than Kahne.  But Kahne took over and was able to hold on for the win.  It’s always nice to see someone with longer odds get the win.  Kahne was at +1200 to win so NASCAR betters that took a chance on him had a nice little payday.

Matt Kenseth finished the race 13th which was enough to keep him in the lead in the point standings.  But Dale Earnhardt Jr. finished 4th for his 8th top 5 result of the year and inched to within 16 points of Kenseth.  If Jr. can keep getting these top 5 finishes, he just might be in the thick of things at the end of the season.

It’s going to get more exciting each week as the drivers battle to see who will make the Chase.  It was a great finish last season and it is shaping up to be close again this year.  The Sprint Cup Series takes the week off but will be back on July 29th for the Crown Royal at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
