2012 Breeders’ Cup Classic Betting Preview

The feature race of the Breeders’ Cup will be the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Classic.  The race will be run over 1 ¼ miles on dirt and is for 3 year olds and up.  The total purse for the race is $5,000,000.

Game On Dude is the favorite in the field at 9/5.  Santa Anita is his home track where he is a perfect 5 for 5.  He is the winner of the Awesome Again G1 event 2 years in a row.  This is a prep race for the Classic.  While he is definitely the horse to beat, this is a very tough field and I’m not sure about betting him with such low odds.

Next we have Flat out and Fort Larned at 5/1.  Flat Out finished 5th in the 2011 Classic.  He is coming off of a win at the G1 Jockey Club Gold Cup but that was his first win since he won the same race the year before.  Fort Larned is coming into the race after a mediocre performance in the Jockey Club Gold Cup.  He has shown that he can get the distant in past races and I look for him to run just off the pace.  Not that excited about this horse but he might be worth thinking about in an exotic bet.

Ron the Greek is listed at 6/1.  He had a poor showing in the Jockey Club Gold Cup.  He won a very similar race to the Classic back in March in the Santa Anita Handicap.  It was over the same distance and surface as this race.  I actually like Ron the Greek better than the previous 2 horses at 5/2.

Mucho Macho Man is a familiar horse at 8/1.  He has raced very well in his last 4 races including a win at the G2 Gulfstream Park Handicap and a win at the G2 Suburban at Belmont Park.  I could see this horse finishing well, especially with a little help from the frontrunners.  He should definitely be kept in mind for a trifecta or quinella.  It is going to be a great race and a great day at Santa Anita Park tomorrow.

Betting on the horses is as easy as pushing a button on your computer these days.  Find the odds for this race and all horse racing available at America’s Bookie.  If you don’t already have an account it will be simple to set one up and you will be able to bet any of the races offered, along with horse racing action from all over the world.  They also have a section that thoroughly explains the different types of bets available and how they work.
